Elegant Ideas for a Baby Shower
A Simple Elegant Baby Shower with tips for a delicious brunch, easy DIY baby shower decor, and fun activities.
Last weekend I had the privilege of hosting my sister's (in-laws) baby shower in our home.
Originally we had planned to have a pretty large shower for Katie back in April with all of her friends and family, but with everything happening in the world around us we postponed (multiple times) in hopes that we would be able to celebrate in person together.
As the weeks progressed we chose to create a more intimate shower with just family and 3 of her closest friends.
But I didn't want her baby girl's shower to be diminished just because we weren't going to invite 50+ people.
So I continued to plan the decor, food, and activities as normal, with the simple adjustment of needing less.

For the printable decor, I used a mixture of free printables that I found online along with some that I created myself using this free watercolor flower art set.
I have a mini-tutorial for the front door hoop wreaths coming soon and they were the perfect little pink addition before entering the baby shower.
I found this beautifully illustrated " When I Pray For You Book " online and thought it would be perfect for the guest book.
We had been praying for baby Brooke for a year before her first heartbeat and I thought it would be the perfect little keepsake to read with her parents as she gets older.
Katie's mom and I had been talking for months about baby shower plans, particularly the food.
And the array of sweet and savory treats were absolutely delicious!
One of the things I've learned over the years with planning and hosting is the importance of accepting help and delegating.
While I focused on the planning, decor, and activities, I took up anyone who offered to bring brunch food for the shower.
The only food contribution I made were the drinks and I didn't even do that!
Roger offered to cut the fruit and create the drinks for me and of course, I totally said yes.
Katie's mom brought Brown Sugar Breakfast Roll-Ups (which I've been craving ever since the shower), her sister brought a delicious array of bagels that were paired with Kelly's gorgeous assortment of bagel toppings.
Roger's mom brought a fruit charcuterie board with the strawberries cut into adorable little heart shapes.
My mom made a chocolate cake with cream cheese marshmallow buttercream frosting paired with a beautiful selection of donuts brought by my Chasity.
Chasity also arranged a delicious vegetable, nut, and cheese charcuterie board with vegetables from her garden.
And my nieces absolutely devoured the parfait bar brought by Michelle.
Our home has never seen a more delicious brunch spread!
To help the new parents stock up on diapers we included a diaper raffle at her baby shower.
Guests (including her 8 nieces) had the opportunity to bring diapers for a chance to win a gift card, which our 6-year-old niece won!
I also set up a place for people to write down their advice for the new mom and wishes for the new baby (I found the free printables here).
And after weeks of trying to come up with what the main activity should be, I finally decided on the fun idea of having guests create baby Brooke's first ABC book.
It took some time to hunt down a free printable, but I finally found the perfect one here.
I knew my artistic sister (in-laws) and their 7 daughters would really enjoy this activity.
And I was happily surprised when Katie's 3 friends were the first ones to start creating Brooke's first ABC book.
Before I knew it all 26 letters were beautifully illustrated!
Now I just need to find a way to laminate them and the book will be complete.
And while Baby Brooke isn't due until the middle of July we've all started making guesses on what day we think she will arrive.
This little one is already so deeply loved and anticipated by all of her friends and family!
